Mossman Gorge Tours
Nestled in the southern reaches of the stunning World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park, Mossman Gorge is a marvel of nature that is as revered now as it was thousands of years ago by the traditional Indigenous Eastern Kuku Yalanji people. This wonder of the natural world comprises the Earth’s oldest and continuously surviving rainforest – 120,000 hectares of thriving ecosystem that has flourished for over 135 million years. The Daintree is actually considered to be a cradle of evolution for the majority of the plant and wildlife in Australia and is one of the most complicated ecosystems on the planet!
An easy 80 kilometre (50 mi) trip north from Cairns will get you to Mossman Gorge, where you can park in a safe carpark, cross the suspension bridge over Rex Creek and walk the 2.4 km rainforest loop. Strolling through pristine rainforest wilderness past huge boulders sitting in cool streams, with views of majestic mountains and rugged gorges, you’ll come to realise why this part of the world is so valued and visited by so many. You will be able to view and photograph rare species of flora and fauna, dramatic landscapes, macro life and areas so achingly beautiful, you’ll never forget them. You can also take advantage of the thousands of years of passed down knowledge by earning from the local Kuku Yalanji Indigenous people on a guided interpretive walk.
If you’re visiting Far North Queensland, Mossman Gorge is an absolute must-see! Add this wondrous location to your itinerary and discover the real beauty of Australia.
